“I follow Rebekah Scott Designs on social media (Four years ago I was introduced to her and her business when I worked at Werder Endeavors (Ali J Boutique, My Midlife Closet, Rebel Marketing)!). I enjoy following Rebekah and keeping up with the creations her team makes. I also appreciate the fun, encouraging posts the RSD team shares as well. I just came across a new blog post “Thankful for 39 Years. Read it HERE!

I loved this idea and how she split it up into categories. So I wanted to give it a try.

*Notice I created a category for food on it’s own 😂

Each year I make “Happy List” in my phone and I just jot down the fun, exciting, memorable things that happened during the year. Usually they are events (weddings, friend outings, special moments). I like doing that to reflect on all the good things that happened, and try plan for more of those memories in the coming year.

This list below is not the “Happy List” you will find on my phone, however I drew some inspiration from that idea and Rebekah’s post to create this one. This list skews more generic and I shared more activities/products/places you might find me doing/using/frequenting every day or that have impacted me positively this past year!

Check it out!

 SELF

(1) Podcast App (I usually listen to a podcast at least one a day while driving to drop off my son at daycare or when doing the dishes!)

(2) Tone it Up
I’ve been following this fitness and wellness community since 2015. A few years ago they developed an app – so I like to use that and exercise from home! My favorites are kickboxing, yoga and total body toning.

(3) Twix

(4) My shower cap – we have VERY hard, rusty water. And while we have gotten better at adding softer salt, I try to protect hair as much as possible – otherwise it turns orange. Plus the shower cap is kinda cute, and pairs well with my old soul.

(5) Reading! In 2020 I had a goal to read one book a month. I read 11 total – and actually listened to a majority on Audible. My favorites were “Atomic Habits” and “Fervent” – those I read hard copy.

(6) Shopping! Small Business Boutiques that I love to support:  Persona Clothing Co, Boss Boutique, Ali J Boutique, Lexi’s Closet, Natural Necessities, Jo-Lynn creations and Livintage.

 (7) Throat Tea – This one deserves an explanation. The kind I use is “Traditional Medicinals Throat Coat” I pick it up from Walmart. + I have battled sore throats FOREVER. And this past Fall I finally got my tonsils out – which so far has been such a good decision. Before that Throat Coat did seem to ease some of the pain. I still like to drink it, along with Ginger tea, Lemon Ginger Tea, you get the picture, etc!!

HOME

(8) Pulled Pork FAVORITE recipe – Find it HERE!

(9) Gallery Wall (I finally ordered frames + photos and I LOVE it).

(10) Roomba – it gets stuck a lot, but does pickup a lot of dog hair.

(11) Cozy pillows (we ordered Casper ones this year and like them a lot) + old go-to cozy blankets. I have a blanket I was gifted at my high school graduation that I still use (it even came to the hospital with us when I was induced) and Jeremy has a quilt from his Grandma that is likely 15 years old.

(12) Gardening! I’m not very good at it, but I enjoy it! This year we were able to make salsa, as well as can some Pears and Apples – I didn’t do the canning, my Dad did 🤪.

(13) Online grocery pickup! I cannot say enough good things about online grocery pickup. It cuts a half hour grocery trip into 5 minutes – I’m down for that.

WORK

(14) Laptop stand

(15) Creator Studio (scheduling client Facebook posts on desktop), Business Suite (for mobile social media management)

(16) Facebook ads — this platform is still my #1 recommendation for my clients’ advertising dollars.

(17) Notebooks (I love a good paper and pen moment)

(18) G2 Pens

(19) Canva

(20) Bluelight glasses (I work on a computer every day)

FAMILY

(21) Walks with Dwayne (our dog) to the creek

(22) Feeding the cats with my toddler – he thinks that’s pretty great 🐈‍⬛

(23) Pontoon rides

(24) Facebook Messenger video calls with my parents

(25) Trips to Granite Falls Kiawanis popcorn Stand – My order is ALWAYS popcorn with extra butter + root beer

(26) A real Christmas tree – We have gotten a tree from Iverson Tree Farm the last 3 years

(27) Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library – #1. I think Dolly is just so cool in the first place, #2. I actually remember seeing these books when I used to babysit! It’s really fun now to get mailed a new book that my son can enjoy every so often!

FOOD

(28) Local West Central MN Food Faves!

Off Center Tavern & Grill: Pork Quesadilla (the fried pickles do it for me)

Grandview Valley Winery: Cuban Pickle Crisis Pizza + their wine is great too!

Donners Crossroads Truckstop: Chicken Bacon Ranch Pizza

Budger’s Dinner House: Bacon Cheeseburger and Cheesy Hashbrowns

Duffy’s Good Time Saloon: Bourbon Barbecue Wings + Ranch Fries (Full order 🤤)

Middle Fork Cafe – Mango Pineapple Squash Smoothie, Chai Tea + Cranberry Wild Rice Turkey/Brie Sandwich

Max’s Grill: Corn Capital Bites

So if you made it to the end of my list! Thanks for reading – kind of silly, but also very fun to write and reflect on – and actually took me a long time to come up with 28 things.

I would love to know one thing that is on your “Happy List”! Share in a comment below or head back to my Facebook page to leave a comment on my latest post.
